These terms apply when you use the Shiok Recipe app (“the app”), made by MR IT PTE. LTD. (UEN 202007918N), 6001 Beach Road, #13-10 Golden Mile Tower, Singapore 199589 (“we”, “us”). By using the app you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
The app
Shiok Recipe turns recipes you find (in social media posts, videos, web pages, cookbook pages and photos of dishes) into recipes you can save, plan and cook from. There are no accounts: your recipes are kept on your phone.
Free and Pro plans
- The free plan includes a monthly number of imports. An import is one link, video, dish photo or fridge or pantry scan. The current allowances are shown in the app and on our website.
- Shiok Recipe Pro is a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play. It raises the monthly import allowance and adds features described in the app.
- Payment and renewal. Payment is taken by Apple or Google when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
- Free trials and introductory prices. If you start a free trial and don’t cancel before it ends, the paid subscription starts. Introductory prices apply for the period shown when you buy.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. We can’t issue refunds for store purchases.
- Changes. We may change plans, allowances or prices. Price changes for an active subscription follow Apple’s and Google’s rules, which include telling you in advance.
- Fair use. Import allowances exist to keep the service running for everyone. We may limit or suspend use that is automated, abusive or far beyond normal personal use.
AI-generated recipes
Recipes, ingredient lists, steps, translations and nutrition figures are produced by AI (Google’s Gemini) from the content you import. AI can make mistakes: quantities, timings, ingredients or nutrition can be wrong or missing.
- Check a recipe before you cook it, especially cooking temperatures and times for meat, seafood and eggs.
- Allergies and diets: always check ingredients yourself. Don’t rely on the app to tell you whether a dish is safe for an allergy, intolerance or medical diet.
- Nutrition figures are estimates for general information only, not medical or dietary advice.
Content you import
- You may only import content you are allowed to use. Recipes you save are for your own personal, non-commercial use.
- Posts, videos, photos and recipes belong to their creators. The app keeps a link to the original post so you can go back to it, and we encourage you to support the creators you cook from.
- Don’t use the app to copy and republish other people’s content, or in a way that breaks the terms of the sites you import from.
- When you import something, you allow us and our service providers to process it to produce your recipe, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
Don’t misuse the app. In particular, don’t:
- try to get around import limits or subscription checks, or use more than one installation to do so;
- access our servers other than through the app, or use bots, scrapers or other automated means;
- reverse engineer, copy or resell the app or our service, except as the law allows;
- import unlawful, harmful or abusive content.
We may suspend access for anyone who breaks these terms.
Your data
Your recipes, cookbooks, plans, lists and Log Book are stored on your phone. You are responsible for keeping a backup (Profile → Export Backup) if you want to keep them when you change or reset your phone. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we process and your choices.
Our app
The app, its design, code and branding belong to MR IT PTE. LTD. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, under these terms and the rules of the App Store or Google Play you got it from.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the app running well, but we don’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or that every link or site can be imported (sites change how they work). We may add, change or remove features.
Disclaimer and liability
The app is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any loss arising from a recipe, ingredient or nutrition information produced by the app. Our total liability to you for any claim about the app is limited to the amount you paid us for Pro in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer law that can’t be excluded.
Apple
If you got the app from the App Store, Apple is not responsible for the app or its support, and Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms as a third-party beneficiary.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and change the effective date. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over any dispute.
